Local Students Will Attend Comprehensive Job/Career Expo

Coosa Valley Technical College and the Coosa Valley Area Consortium will team up to provide the Rome community with their first Job Expo/ Career Expo located at the Forum on April 24, 2003.

In previous years, the annual Job Expo sponsored by Coosa Valley Technical College has been extremely successful in connecting students with business and industry employers. By combining this expo with the Career Expo provided by the Coosa Valley Area Consortium for local high schools, over a 150 employers will create an impressive and comprehensive array of career information relating to many interests and levels of training.

The Job Expo will begin at 8:00 a.m. for Coosa Valley Technical College students and conclude at 9:30 a.m. During this portion of the expo, business and industries will have the opportunity to connect and network with over 1,000 of Georgia’s best-trained students in business, technical and medical fields.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m., 10th grade students from Rome, Calhoun, Rockmart and Cedartown schools will explore exciting careers in their perspective fields. Prior to the Career Expo, the high school students will have studied the 16 nationally recognized career clusters and will be invited to apply this knowledge in an innovative scavenger hunt process.

This event will provide an estimated 3,000 college and high school students with access to information on careers in many of today’s developing industries. For further information contact Carol Dugger, Coosa Valley Area Consortium coordinator at 706-802-5817.
