| CVTC’s Child Development Center Has Splash Day |
|
On May 16th the parents, faculty, and children of Coosa Valley Technical College’s Child Development Center at the Gordon County Campus celebrated Splash Day. “Splash Day was set aside for the children to enjoy something everyone loves to do—play in the water and also it was a way to tell parents thank you for sharing their children with us,” said Child Development Center Manager Rebecca Roberson. “We have wonderful parents, they are supportive of the program and of the staff. It was a great way to start the summer.” The day was made possible by a generous donation of 15 pizzas from Papa John’s that gave everyone in attendance a smile and a full stomach. The goal of the center is to create a safe learning environment for children and for the faculty to set positive examples for students who are considering childcare as a profession.
The Coosa Valley Technical College Child Development Center serves as a lab for the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program. The ECCE and Nursing students are involved with the center and learn both how to interact with and how to better teach young children. Many of these students were highly involved in assuring the success of the summer Splash Day.
The center has 36 children currently enrolled, ranging from as young as six weeks up to pre-kindergarten. Children of CVTC students and children from the public are all welcome to enroll in CVTC’s Child Development Center via waiting list.
