Coosa Valley Technical College Completes $176,000 Matching Grant Campaign
Dr. Ken Breeden, Georgia’s Commissioner of Technical and Adult Education, issued an equipment matching grant challenge to Coosa Valley Technical College Foundation to raise $176,000 by December 31, 2000. The community responded helping CVTC to meet their goal, thus providing $352,000 in funds for new equipment purchases.

The state matching monies will be used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for Machine Tool Technology, Industrial Electrical Technology, Computer Information Systems, Auto Collision, Automotive Technology, Welding, Carpentry, and Industrial Maintenance.

According to Craig McDaniel, CVTC president, “With today’s ever-changing technology, providing equipment in our shops and labs that is similar to that used in business and industry becomes more and more cost prohibitive. The matching funds provided by the state provide an opportunity for CVTC to partner with local businesses to double these equipment dollars.”

McDaniel further stated, “We want to thank those businesses, industries, and individuals who made donations to this special effort including CISCO, Heritage Nissan, Auto Color, Heritage Pontiac/Buick, E.I. DuPont, Home Depot, C.C. Dickson, Steel King, Wada Metals, Floyd Medical Center, the Harris Foundation, and Gen Corp. Because the community supported us in reaching this goal, our students will be better trained to become a part of the area’s workforce.”
