CVTC's Business Expansion Center Partners with Appalachian Community Enterprises
Coosa Valley Technical College’s Business Expansion Center has teamed up with Appalachian Community Enterprises to offer micro-loan services to new and existing small businesses with five or less employees. Appalachian Community Enterprises (ACE) was founded in 1999 by Grace Fricks. ACE is a non-profit, certified community development financial institution that offers assistance in the areas of business loans, training, and technical support to new and existing businesses in Georgia that employs fewer than 5 people. ACE currently serves businesses in over 31 counties in the State of Georgia. The mission of ACE is to provide loans to people who don’t have access to traditional means of gaining the funds and capital needed to start and run a small business. CVTC’s Business Expansion Center will assist ACE in functioning as the beginning stage of the loan process for people interested in taking advantage of the micro-loan program. This type of loan program will give other lending institutions an alternative to turning down customers they deem worthwhile candidates for loan assistance. Coosa Valley Technical College’s Business Expansion Center (BEC) has been assisting small businesses in Northwest Georgia since June of 2001. The Business Expansion Center provides entrepreneurs and small businesses with a unique environment to help enhance their opportunity for success by providing low cost office and manufacturing space, professional support services, access to the resources of Coosa Valley Technical College, and access to the area's other resources. “The micro-loan program will be a great addition to the many resources that the Business Expansion Center offers to entrepreneurs and small business owners,” stated Pete McDonald, Vice President of Economic Development at Coosa Valley Technical College.
