Commissioner Vollmer Tours Mohawk Home Incorporated’s New Distribution Center In Calhoun, Georgia
Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) Commissioner, Michael Vollmer, along with DTAE’s Assistant Commissioner, Jackie Rohosky, recently took a tour of Mohawk Home Incorporated’s new 700,000-square-foot distribution center in Calhoun. Mohawk Home consolidated and relocated several distribution facilities for their Home Products division into one new distribution center.
Georgia Quick Start, in partnership with Coosa Valley Technical College, began a Quick Start Project with Mohawk Home in May 2005, and is currently in the beginning stages of Quick Start training.
Quick Start is Georgia’s premiere economic development program, administered through the Department of Technical and Adult Education. The Quick Start program is an economic incentive program that provides employee training, at no cost, for qualified companies moving into the state and qualified existing companies that are expanding their work force. The Quick Start program has been in existence since 1967. During this time period, they have trained more than 515,000 employees for more than 4,600 different companies.
