Coosa Valley Technical College Begins Programming on Comcast Cable's Channel 4

Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) has partnered with the City of Rome and the Rome-Floyd County Library to begin programming on Comcast Cable's channel 4, public education government (PEG) channel, beginning in December.
CVTC’s cablecasts will be shown from 4:00-5:00 p.m. and 10:30-11:30 p.m. A variety of programming segments will be featured on the channel including interviews with local businesses and industries, government and community leaders, and CVTC faculty and staff. Other segments will showcase CVTC’s programs and services, as well as provide the audience with general information about the college.

Don Hatcher has joined CVTC’s Marketing and Public Relations Department and will coordinate the video production for the programming. Hatcher brings over 35 years of broadcasting experience to CVTC. Most recently Hatcher was the morning news anchor for Southern Broadcasting. Hatcher traveled overseas to cover American military action from Grenada to Kosovo. He also served as a freelance editor and field producer for ABC News in Skopia, Macedonia and assisted in a 20/20 special on the Kosovo refugees and helped cover the news for Good Morning America and World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. Hatcher also wrote and produced national television news releases for Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca, and Novartis. For over 20 years, Hatcher served as the Rome Bureau Chief for WXIA-TV, Eleven Alive, Atlanta’s NBC station. While at WXIA-TV, Hatcher was given his own series called, “Don Hatcher’s Georgia.” He also served as the anchor for the 11:00 p.m. News Program at WALB-TV in Albany, Georgia. Hatcher has earned many awards including the 1987 Carolyn Carter Travel Photographer of the Year award in Georgia, the Georgia Associated Press Award for Best Investigative Documentary, and was voted Young Media Person of the Year by the Jaycees.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to present technical education to the community and proud to have Don Hatcher on our staff to make the dream a reality,” stated Craig McDaniel, Coosa Valley Technical College President.
