Hart Completes WorkKeys Training
Tim Hart, Director of Business and Industry Services for Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) has recently completed ACT, Inc. (ACT) WorkKeys Job Profiler Training and is authorized to use the WorkKeys Job Profiling System in the areas of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Listening, Writing, Applied Technology, Locating Information, Teamwork, Observation, and Business Writing.

WorkKeys is the assessment tool used by the Georgia Work Ready program to highlight the skills and abilities of Georgia’s workforce to current and potential businesses and industries. The Georgia Work Ready program consists of three parts: job profiles, assessments, and education. CVTC has been using WorkKeys to assess potential employees for local businesses and industries for several years. Hart will be focusing on the job profiling aspect of Georgia Work Ready to provide employers with job-related criteria that, along with other factors, can assist them in making selection, promotion, and training decisions. The education portion of the program will be available through Coosa Valley Technical College in a few months. Hart will be utilizing the WorkKeys system to profile jobs in Floyd, Gordon, and Polk counties.

The ACT WorkKeys Job Profiling analysis system helps businesses identify the skills and skill levels employees must have to perform particular jobs effectively. It also gives individuals a clear picture of the skill levels they need to qualify for and be successful in the jobs they want. When used with the assessments, instruction, and reporting, job profiling allows workers to make decisions about appropriate jobs and to identify areas they need to strengthen in pursuing their education and career goals. The job profile also identifies the skill levels employees must have to perform a specific job in a particular company, based upon information provided by people within that company. Each job profile results from a computer assisted job analysis process. Profiling is conducted only by people trained to facilitate the process of identifying relevant job skills.

ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides more than 100 assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education planning, career planning, and workforce development.

LG CIM’s Inspector/Quality position will be the first post assessed by Hart. “LG CIM is very excited to have WorkKeys allow us to be the first participant for job profiling in Gordon County. We hope to have the opportunity to utilize the profiling service for more areas in the near future,” stated Lisa Henson, Human Resources Manager, LG CIM, Calhoun, Georgia. The Gordon County facility, with a headquarters in Seoul, Korea, is the first manufacturing facility for LG in the United States. LG CIM is a manufacturer of HI-MACS acrylic solid surface material that is used commercially and residentially throughout the world. The facility manufactures acrylic solid surface materials for the North American market, as well as a wide range of products, from petrochemical goods to high-value added plastics, and high performance industrial materials.
