Coosa Valley Tech Hires Commercial Truck Driving Program Director
Coosa Valley Technical College's President, Dr. Craig McDaniel, recently announced the addition of Joseph Porter as Program Director and Instructor for Commercial Truck Driving.

Joseph Porter received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Kennesaw State University and received Commercial Truck Driving Training from Ryder Tech (Alliance). He owned and operated Joseph L. Porter Company, a multiple tractor trucking company, for over
25 years. Porter was an adjunct instructor for the Commercial Truck Driving program at Dekalb Technical Institute. Porter has extensive knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) laws and regulations including equipment compliance, log-book compliance, and driver qualifications. His background in the commercial truck driving industry gives him experience with DOT health certificates, drug and alcohol testing, and MVR (motor vehicle report) requirements.

As Coosa Valley Technical College's Commercial Truck Driving Program Director and Instructor, Porter is responsible for meeting all state and federal requirements regarding commercial truck driving and the training of students. Porter will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited occupational courses at the college and develop program syllabi, goals and objectives. Porter will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining equipment to meet the needs of the program and ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the commercial truck driving training area. He will register and advise students and assist program graduates with career opportunities.
