Cessna Donates Aircraft to CVTC Foundation
Cessna Aircraft Company, Wichita, Kansas donated a Cessna T303 Crusader, fixed-wing, twin-engine, piston-driven aircraft to be utilized in the Aviation and Avionics Maintenance programs at Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC). The aircraft, valued at $235,000, was a donation to Coosa Valley Technical College’s Foundation. Cessna used the aircraft for Research and Development to develop and test systems that are currently used on their modern aircraft.
“I am really appreciative of this generous donation by the Cessna Aircraft Company to our Aviation programs at Coosa Valley Technical College,” said Jon Byrd, Program Director of Aviation. “Cessna is an industry leader in general aviation and corporate aircraft. Having the aircraft available as a teaching tool will greatly benefit our future students at the CVTC Aviation Training Center at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.”
“CVTC has been able to build on an already good relationship between Cessna, Georgia Quick Start, and the Technical College System of Georgia to get this donation,” stated Dr. Craig McDaniel, President, Coosa Valley Technical College. “To have Cessna come to Rome and see the community and CVTC’s Aviation Training Center was a huge plus for Rome and Floyd County.”
Based on unit sales, Cessna Aircraft Company is the world's largest manufacturer of general aviation airplanes. Coosa Valley Technical College’s Foundation was created in 1989 to allow the college to be responsive to the needs of the community and the economy. The main functions of CVTC’s Foundation are to provide financial assistance to students, fund equipment purchases, assist in marketing and public relations efforts, and help provide funding for new programs. A 501(c)(3) corporation, the Foundation provides a way for services to be delivered when state and federal resources are not available.
