Coosa Valley Technical College Holds
Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) held the 3rd Annual Groundhog Shadow Day on the Floyd County Campus recently.
Groundhog Shadow Day participants included high school students from Armuchee High, Coosa High, Model High, Pepperell High and Rome High. The students had the opportunity to tour the college, “shadow” CVTC students and instructors, and participate in classroom activities, while learning more about a particular program of study. The CVTC programs of study that were highlighted in this year’s Groundhog Shadow Day included: computer information systems, accounting, marketing, horticulture, machine tools, automated manufacturing, electronics, automotive, auto collision repair and welding.
Groundhog Shadow Day is a creative way to connect high school course work with programs of study at technical college. The special day provides an up close and personal look into a specific program area. It provides students with a “hands-on” component that an ordinary college visit would not include. The day also provides an answer to the question “Am I truly interested in this career?”
Groundhog Shadow Day gives prospective students a chance to experience technical education at its best!
