Coosa Valley Technical College Automotive Technology Program Receives National Recertification

The Automotive Technology program of Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) has received recertification by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). CVTC’s Automotive program has been recertified in the areas of: Automatic Transmission and Transaxle, Brakes, Electrical Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train and Axles, and Suspension and Steering.

To achieve this coveted recognition, CVTC’s Automotive Technology Program underwent rigorous evaluation by NATEF. NATEF only recommends programs for ASE certification that meet nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities, and equipment used. ASE certification through NATEF evaluation ensures that certified training programs meet or exceed industry-recognized, uniform standards of excellence.

“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said Donald Seyfer, NATEF Chair. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that CVTC’s graduates will be employable technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by CVTC, the motoring public will benefit by better repair technicians joining the work force.” Upon completion of the evaluation, NATEF recommended that Coosa Valley Technical College be recertified by The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE is a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to certifying automotive training programs.

“During the last few months, we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted to continue our status as an ASE certified training program. Students will be assured of a quality education, and shop owners will be assured of getting quality employees,” stated Rodney Parris, CVTC Automotive Instructor.

“I am very pleased that the automotive technology program has achieved ASE recertification. Our faculty and students are excellent and the support from the automotive industry in our service area is highly appreciated by the administration at Coosa Valley Technical College,” added Dr. Teresa Resch, CVTC’s Vice President of Instructional Services.
