Bruiser The Bruin Is In The House! Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) has a Bruin in the house. Bruiser the Bruin, the college's athletic mascot, now has his likeness carved in wood.
Thanks to Jonathan Knight, of Uncle John's Wood Carving in Armuchee, Bruiser will be positioned in the Lobby of CVTC's Floyd County Campus for all to see. The four foot, 125 pound carving is made from white pine wood brought in from Chickamauga, Georgia.
“I am honored that Coosa Valley Technical College commissioned me to carve the bear. I hope it brings the CVTC Bruins good luck at all their athletic events,” stated Knight.
Knight added that his daughter Jessica, a student at Armuchee High School, added some of the finishing touches to the carving.
The Bruins will be traveling to Carrollton on Saturday, March 8, to take on the West Central Technical College Knights. Tip off is at 2:30 p.m.
Next up for CVTC athletics is women’s volleyball.
“We are currently recruiting students for our women’s volleyball team. We will be meeting with the other colleges to determine the schedule and other details of the upcoming volleyball season,” stated CVTC’s Assistant Coach, Robbie Nash.
Coosa Valley Technical College, Griffin Technical College, Northwestern Technical College, and West Central Technical College will be competing against each other during the volleyball season.

Go Bruins!
