Bojo Perkins Winner 2007
Bojo CVTC’s 2007 Instructor of the Year

Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) recently named Tom Bojo, Criminal Justice Program Director and Instructor, as the 2007 Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year.

As CVTC’s 2007 Instructor of the Year, Bojo will compete among other technical college instructors at the local consortium level. Consortia winners receive statewide recognition for their achievement, and then move on to state-level competition. Final state-level judging will occur in September, and the Rick Perkins Award Winner will be announced at the Lighthouse Institute in Augusta, Georgia.

Bojo’s educational background includes an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Floyd College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Jacksonville State University, and a master’s degree in public administration from Jacksonville State University.

Bojo joined CVTC in 2003 to develop and launch the Criminal Justice program. In addition to his regular duties, Bojo serves as the captain of CVTC’s Institutional Effectiveness Leadership Team and is a member of the Northwest Georgia Chair of Criminal Justice Technology Consortia.

“Tom represents the very best in technical education instruction. He came to Coosa Valley Technical College with over 20 years in law enforcement and has taken that experience and combined it with a passion for teaching. He is a quality individual with high moral values and a commitment to excellence in everything he does,” stated Coosa Valley Technical College President, Craig McDaniel.

Instructors were nominated for the Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year by other faculty and staff at CVTC. Eight instructors were nominated to compete for the title of CVTC’s Instructor of the Year including, Donna Andrews, Biology Instructor; Anne Clay, Adult Literacy Instructor; Karen Fluharty, Nuclear Medicine Instructor; Tonya Haley, Business Instructor; Pam Kizziah, Business Instructor; Gina Stephens, Business Instructor; and Gordon Tucker, Fire Science Instructor.

CVTC’s local nominees for Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year award went through an interview process conducted by a panel of judges made up of local business leaders.
