BEC Celebrates Third Year of Partnership with Appalachian Regional Commission

Coosa Valley Technical College’s Business Expansion Center (BEC) recently celebrated its three-year partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission. Special guests including Congressman Phil Gingrey, representatives from the City and County Board of Commissioners, and past and present tenants of the BEC attended the celebration. Gingrey praised the BEC for the strong resource it has been to small businesses and entrepreneurs who have utilized their services. Special presentations were given by BEC tenants, Ballistics Research, Inc. and Varitech Equipment Company, Inc. Craig McDaniel, Coosa Valley Technical College President, presented a special gift to Lloyd Frasier. Frasier, Assistant Planning Director for Coosa Valley Regional Development Center, assisted the BEC in obtaining funding from the ARC.

The ARC provides funding for the BEC through a special regional initiative which targets funds to encourage and support locally based entrepreneurship, thus creating jobs, strengthening local economies, and contributing to long-term self-sufficiency in the region.
