Coosa Valley Technical College’s Aviation and Avionics Programs Approved The State Board of Technical and Adult Education has issued approval for Coosa Valley Technical College (CVTC) to offer an associate of applied technology degree and diploma in Aviation Maintenance Technology and a diploma in Avionics Maintenance Technology.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has specific guidelines that each program must meet. CVTC will be working closely with the FAA to ensure the programs meet their specifications.
Coosa Valley Technical College plans to hire a program director within the next six to eight weeks. The program director will be responsible for overseeing the program, purchasing necessary equipment, and developing the program curriculum. In partnership with the Floyd County Commission, CVTC will begin preparing classroom space for the program at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport. CVTC tentatively plans to begin offering classes in spring 2007.
“Richard B. Russell Regional Airport’s proximity to Atlanta, Birmingham, and Chattanooga will provide good access for students who wish to become employed in the aviation industry. I feel these programs will be a great economic asset to this part of Georgia,” stated Coosa Valley Technical College President, Dr. Craig McDaniel.
