Coosa Valley Technical College Breaks Ground on Aviation Training Center Coosa Valley Technical College held a groundbreaking for the new Aviation Training Center on August, 15, 2007 at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
Special guests attending the ceremony were state representatives Rick Crawford, Katie Dempsey, and Barbara Massey Reece; County Commissioners Garry Fricks, Eddie Lumsden, and Jerry Jennings; City Commissioners Wright Bagby, Kim Canada, Anne Rigas,and Buzz Wachsteter. Members from the Airport Commission and the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce were also in attendance.
County Commissioner Eddie Lumsden gave the invocation and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The program also included remarks from County Commissioner Jerry Jennings, Airport Commisioner Howie Lowden, CVTC President Craig McDaniel, Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Chair of the Board Evie McNeice, and CVTC Aviation Program Director Jon Byrd.
Following the program, Byrd, Dempsey, Jennings, Lowden, and McNeice performed the official groundbreaking.
