AT&T Donates $10,000 to Coosa Valley Technical College’s Foundation
Coosa Valley Technical College’s (CVTC) Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation for the Education For Work campaign from AT&T.

The check was presented to Otis Raybon, Jr., CVTC’s Education For Work Campaign Co-Chair and Dr. Craig McDaniel, CVTC President, by Don Barbour, Regional Manager of External Affairs at AT&T Georgia.

CVTC’s Education For Work campaign is a five year investment plan designed to enhance economic development through workforce education in Floyd, Gordon, and Polk counties. The college officially kicked off the campaign this past February.

“CVTC is a leading technical college in the area and AT&T supports the efforts of the local colleges and the areas they serve,” stated Barbour. “Dr. McDaniel and I talked about the capital campaign and about a number of projects the college was embarking on. AT&T took a look at those and wanted to support their efforts.

“The support of AT&T toward our Education For Work campaign means a great deal to Coosa Valley Technical College,” stated McDaniel. “They have always been a supporter of economic development activities in our community and this investment is an indication that they intend on continuing that support.”

AT&T’s donation was used toward building a new set for CVTC’s television studio.

“One of the projects Dr. McDaniel and I talked about was a new television set to help produce recruitment videos that the college would distribute to local high schools,” added Barbour.

AT&T is a communications holding company. Its subsidiaries and affiliates, AT&T operating companies, are the providers of AT&T services in the United States and around the world. In domestic markets, AT&T is known for the directory publishing and advertising sales leadership of its Yellow Pages and YELLOWPAGES.COM organizations, and the AT&T brand is licensed to innovators in such fields as communications equipment. As part of its three-screen integration strategy, AT&T is expanding its TV entertainment offerings. Additional information about AT&T and the products and services provided by AT&T subsidiaries and affiliates is available at www.att.com.

With $2.1 million already raised through community donations from local and international business and industry, local government, healthcare organizations, and privately owned small businesses, CVTC is close to reaching their goal of $2.5 million.

Coosa Valley Technical College’s Foundation was created in 1989 to allow the college to be responsive to the needs of the community and the economy. The main functions of CVTC’s Foundation are to provide financial assistance to students, fund equipment purchases, assist in marketing and public relations efforts, and help provide funding for new programs. A 501(c)(3) corporation, the Foundation provides a way for services to be delivered when state and federal resources are not available.
