Groundhog Shadow Day 2006

CVTC Holds 2nd Annual Groundhog Shadow Day
Coosa Valley Technical College held the 2nd Annual Groundhog Shadow Day on February 2, 2006, at the Floyd, Gordon, and Polk County campuses.

“Groundhog Shadow Day gives area high school students and teachers the opportunity to tour the college and to “shadow” CVTC students and instructors,” stated Johna Gaines, Career Transition Specialist at Coosa Valley Technical College.

Approximately 185 students participated in the event from area high schools including Adairsville, Armuchee, Cedartown, Coosa, Gordon Central, Model, Pepperell, Rockmart, and Rome High Schools. Participants were able to join in on classroom activities in the program of study that they had an interest in.

“The hands-on experience that students receive on Groundhog Shadow Day helps them to learn more about our programs and to see if they are truly interested in a particular career,” stated Gaines.

At the end of the day, the students walked away with a Groundhog Shadow Day t-shirt and stuffed animal mascot, a certificate of completion, and a wealth of information about technical education.
