Georgia Virtual Technical College |
Are you aware that Entrepreneurship Training, as a program of study, is available through the Georgia Virtual Technical College at www.gvtc.org?
Georgia Virtual Technical College brings together the resources of 34 accredited technical colleges in a cooperative effort to create courses and programs using the Internet as the delivery medium. The “hands-on” portion of the instruction (when required) is made possible through several local and regional centers located throughout the state of Georgia and the existence of a standardized curriculum among the technical colleges.
The Entrepreneurship Program of Study, which provides a Technical Certificate of Credit, is designed to provide students interested in starting their own business with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to successfully compete in the world economy in the 21st century.
The Program Objectives include:
* To teach students the importance of planning as it relates to owning and operating their own businesses.
* To provide the student with the ability to assess information related to planning and operating their business such as regulatory requirements, financing options, and the legal environment in which they operate.
* To provide the student with skills related to customer service, cash flow analysis, and so forth.
The Curriculum Outline includes three courses, each with five credit hours, with quarterly entrance dates. The three courses cover:
* ENT 101 Planning for Success * ENT 102 Business Start-up Fundamentals * ENT 103 Legal Environment of Business
In addition to Entrepreneurship, almost fifty other Technical Certificates of Credit are available ranging from Accredited Business Accountant Preparation to Web Site Fundamentals. Associate in Applied Technology degrees include programs from Accounting to Administrative Office Technology with Diploma Programs from Accounting to Management and Supervisory Development.
Georgia Virtual Technical College has processed applications from 29 states across America and also from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Taiwan, and Vietnam, plus, Americans in Armed Forces from Germany and Korea. Some 685 courses have been taught (last Winter quarter - 352) and the enrollment is currently at 8,353 with over 4,000 in the last Winter quarter alone.
As part of the focus of the Business Expansion Center, we wish to provide those individuals within the Center, as well as those outside of the Center, the ability to increase their knowledge, particularly in the area of Entrepreneurship. Additionally, there is a need to obtain other basic skills relative to the business and financial arena. These are met through the Georgia Virtual Technical College.
We invite you to visit the Georgia Virtual Technical College web site at www.gvtc.org and surf the menu to determine if there are courses available that would assist you in your efforts or the efforts and performance of those you know or employ. The courses are available at the convenience of the student and can be virtually completed without ever visiting the campus.
