Service Industry Academy
Coosa Valley Technical College's Service Industry Academy is designed to equip students with the foundation and advanced skills to deliver excellent customer service in a broad range of customer contact positions. Graduates become certified as Certified Customer Service Specialists.
Service Industry Academy Mission
The Service Industry Academy trains students in the areas that businesses today say are most needed in the workplace. These areas include providing customer service both face to face and on the phone, sales skills, having a positive work ethic, team building, managing the difficult customer, computer skills, business writing and math, personal effectiveness, and job interviews. The Service Industry also goes on-site to enhance current employee skills in specialized areas specifically for that business. Participants work in these areas through role plays, break out groups, lecture and group discussion, and the computer.
Course Specifics
The program consists of over 154 hours of training. A participant can complete the program in seven weeks as a day student; evening classes are also available twice a year that take six months to complete. The HOPE Grant will completely cover the cost of tuition and books for eligible Georgia Residents.
What can you expect?
Graduates of the program have gained careers in areas such as business health care, utilities, government, retail, and social services. Employer feedback confirms just how effective the program is. More and more businesses are contacting the Academy directly when they have career opportunities. They are now hiring multiple graduates as they see the continued success of the program.
