Dental Assisting Curriculum
You will choose an exciting and challenging career when you decide to become a professional dental assistant. This career provides job satisfaction, diversity, and rewards through daily interactions and procedures. You will be an important and needed team member carrying a variety of responsibilities. Some of your primary responsibilities as a dental assistant are listed below:
- To assist the dentist and simplify treatment procedures
- To seat and prepare for patient treatment
- To document charting
- To institute infection control procedures
- To mix dental materials
- To expose and process radiographs
- To place dental sealants
- To apply fluoride treatments
- To remove sutures
- To take impressions
- To fabricate temporary crowns and bridges
- To pour and trim models
- To provide patient education
- To provide postoperative instructions to patients
- To reduce patient anxiety
- To improve the quality of patient care
- To oversee inventory and ordering supplies
