Dental Assisting Curriculum



You will choose an exciting and challenging career when you decide to become a professional dental assistant. This career provides job satisfaction, diversity, and rewards through daily interactions and procedures. You will be an important and needed team member carrying a variety of responsibilities. Some of your primary responsibilities as a dental assistant are listed below:

  • To assist the dentist and simplify treatment procedures
  • To seat and prepare for patient treatment
  • To document charting
  • To institute infection control procedures
  • To mix dental materials
  • To expose and process radiographs
  • To place dental sealants
  • To apply fluoride treatments
  • To remove sutures
  • To take impressions
  • To fabricate temporary crowns and bridges
  • To pour and trim models
  • To provide patient education
  • To provide postoperative instructions to patients
  • To reduce patient anxiety
  • To improve the quality of patient care
  • To oversee inventory and ordering supplies
  • To manage patient records
