The purpose of the Accounting program is to provide educational opportunities to individuals that will enable them to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the field of Accounting.

Careers for Accounting Students

CVTC's Accounting program is intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as Accounting Assistants. Program graduates are to be competent in the general areas of business communications, business math, interpersonal relations, word processing, and basic keyboarding.

Graduates are to be competent in the technical areas of personal services and merchandising, business accounting, the accounting cycle, account classification, general ledger, and subsidiary record accounting, corporate accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, and computerized accounting including conversion, transaction analysis and recording, generation of reports, and utilization of database management and electronic spreadsheet software.
